 Relationship Advice: Drive out Distractions
Make eye contact. It sounds simple, but think about what happens when you greet your partner at the end of the day. It's not unusual to find ourselves multi-tasking, even when we think we're making an effort to connect. You might ask your partner how his or her day was, but while looking through the mail, making dinner, or doing e-mail. Are you really listening to the answer? Are you truly being present? Often, as we find ourselves caught up in day-to-day life, the answer is, "No."

Next time you ask your partner about his or her day, focus on being still and present. Make eye contact. Do not let other tasks crowd out the moment. Your partner will feel heard and appreciated, and you will both feel more connected. So, let the dog bark, let the kids whine, let the e-mail wait...and let yourselves fall towards each other again.
